The AIBTE has been playing a very important role in the field of technical / vocational education for promoting technical education amongst the masses without any commercial ambitions. The AIBTE started conducting Open Examinations of the students sponsored by the Affiliated Institutions at various centers all over India. These examinations have gained immense popularity in Maharashtra. With the steady growth of industrial and technical developments in the post independence period the need for technically qualified personnel increased but the facilities for training remained limited. A few technical training institutes were set up for training students in various trades but without uniform standard syllabi. AIBTE took the lead in framing common syllabi for examinations in the various faculties and started conducting examinations on All over India basis. the AIBTE however, remains the pioneer board in conducting Open Merit Examinations for students.

Objectives of AIBTE

Introduction & Revision of Syllabi

The syllabi for the different certificate courses are revised regularly and keep pace with the fast developing changes in the Industries necessitated by advances in the fields of Information Technology. The syllabi gives due importance to Self Employment by the country’s youth.
The syllabi for various vocational/Technical examinations are produced and revised from time to time. New examinations are introduced to keep pace with the advancement technology.

Admission to Examinations

Students desirous of appearing for Certificate courses of qualifying examinations of the AIBTE have to fill in the appropriate examination forms prescribed by the AIBTE.

Setting of Question Papers

Question papers setting Authority allotted to ATC Centre. for various Certificate examinations are set by qualified Examiners. Although question papers are set in English and translated in some regional languages, students are permitted to answer the questions in regional languages taking into consideration the strength of the students appearing for examinations.

Appointment of the Examiners

The examiners are appointed from the panel of Examiners by AIBTE.

Allotment of Centers:

AIBTE have number of affiliated institutions spread in different areas of Maharashtra State. The centers are allotted to as a Authorized Test Centre. AIBTE will responsible for only conduct Examination & Certification.

Control of Examinations

The examinations of different faculties are conducted by the ATC centres with the rules framed by the AIBTE.

Administration behind Examination Conduction

AIBTE have number of affiliated Institutes and the examination is conducted by academic session.For the purpose of administration, Managing Committee and Examination Committee are formulated to look after the work of affiliation of Institutes, Conduction of Examinations, awards, Trophies, Certificates, scholarships and overall control over the work of AIBTE and its office.

Issue of Certificates

Final Certificates are issued within 20 to 30 days of the date of Declaration of The results. Main Certificates are issued on application through the respective institution and for external students after furnishing satisfactory reasons and evidence in support of the request.

Appointment of Board of Examinations

The appointment of Board of Examinations is made by the AIBTE Managing Committee to conduct all the examinations.

Facility To Appear Directly For AIBTE Exams

Students who are already serving in the industry as Tradesman, Technician, Supervisory staff with relevant experience and possess the practical skills to work under any trade in the industry but wish to appear for the examination in their trade, etc, can also apply to AIBTE along with their work certification after achieving the success in the examination.
